Quotes

I do not believe much explanation is needed to describe the posts nestled under this label, but give me a second of your valuable time to consider the gravity of these proposed questions:

How many clichés, adages, aphorisms, epigrams, maxims, proverbs, or platitudes have you tried to live your life by? How many of the above do you have hanging as posters, sticking as post-it notes, or taped as scribbled encouragements in places of common viewing? How many times have you found yourself using a quote to explain your thoughts, positions, advice, or actions?

If I gambled, I would estimate most of us answered crooked numbers to at least two out of three above questions. So then the real question: Why do the things other people say influence us so much?

The answer is simple: We all search for simplicity! We want our worlds' uncomplicated, easy to explain, to pass on, to promote, to sell, to influence...and as my favorite author once wrote:

"Brevity is the soul of wit." ~ William Shakespeare, Hamlet
