"Dr. Gregory House" ; Hugh Laurie ; House M.D., 2004-2012
"Everybody lies."
I actually can't believe I haven't featured this character yet--I think I've blocked out the fact I can't interact with him on a weekly basis anymore...it's been almost five years, and the large, gaping, unhealed wound left behind from this show's departure still smarts; and the loss of the closeness, the feeling of living in this world with someone who might understand me, or better yet, someone I might get along with in the public world, still makes me ache inside.
Now, I know Dr. House is a fictional character, and by no means I'm I as intelligent and knowledgeable as the writers of this show developed this character to be...but his feeling of isolation, his daily battle with people who didn't see the bigger picture, and his philosophies on life, religion, and society (including its inhabitants) just resonated with me, although on a much smaller scale...and without people's lives in my hands.
I'll always miss his wit, his depth, and his ability to make me feel not alone in this world, to feel validated in my thinking, believing, and living.
So thank you, Dr. Gregory House; thank you, Hugh Laurie; and thank you, David Shore.
