Quote vs. Misquote 3

QUOTE

Paul Revere never shouted this quote. His mission depended on secrecy and British army patrols riddled the countryside; also, at the time most colonial residents considered themselves British, so this exclamation would have confused them. The quote is more likely based on (although not taken verbatim from) the later famous poem “Paul Revere’s Ride” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
