~Upon Him~
Well, what more can I say?
So much for my special plan.
She never did stare back
and she fell for another man.
The instant she saw him,
she never looked away.
And everywhere he moved,
her eyes tended to sway.
I saw it all happen at once
and the truth appeared in my mind.
She melted from his charming voice
and his rather rehearsed lines.
There was nothing I could do;
I could never own her gaze.
Because I couldn’t be the way he was
with his cool and collected ways.
I tried to loosen up
but nothing gelled,
and I couldn’t unleash
the love her eyes held.
At least I owned my pride
and could hold my head high.
But her eyes looked upon him
and for me, they only passed by.
