"When you marooned me on that god forsaken spit of land, you forgot one very important thing, mate: I'm Captain Jack Sparrow."
This character is not only extremely well-written, Johnny Depp also performs him with marvelous charm and style. Depp's ability to believably, yet contrastly, present the character as an all-knowing master manipulator as well as a man of opportunity and chance is pure acting brilliance. Although the multiple films and overexposure from this series' subsequent films and marketing has diluted this performance, Johnny Depp's "Captain Jack Sparrow" deserves to be remembered as one of the greatest characters and performances of all-time.
