Personal Quotes 2

"Idiots ruin the world. Don't be an idiot."

~ Victor Hubress

As coarse and crude as it might sound, this is a piece of advice I commonly share with my students; and, modifying it for the younger ones, you would be surprised how easily this concept is comprehended.

"Why can't we chew gum in school?" asks a student.
"Because idiots are too lazy to throw it into a garbage can, so they spit it on the floor or stash it under a table, for whatever reason, I cannot imagine. Idiots have made, and will continue to make, our world more difficult to live in," I would respond. "[insert quote here.]"

The beauty of this quote is that it can apply to any level of human function or interaction. So whenever your frustration or anger engross you uncontrollably about an unfair or illogical requirement, expectation, rule, or law, remember this quote (it might help you calm to know you're not one of these idiots, simply because you are aware enough to heed the prudence of this advice.) Also, the next time you attempt something that just might tickle the back of your "judgment" radar, remember this quote; you're actions just might make the world harder for the next generation.

But if you're simply an idiot, you probably won't remember or observe this piece of enlightened advice; so I guess the rest of us are just screwed.

And just for fun, here are some really peculiar laws, which, after reading each entry, begs one to ask, "What the heck happened to put this one on the books?"
