A witness to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, Samuel J. Seymour, was interviewed on television. He was just five years old when he attended the play at Ford’s Theater on April 14, 1865 and was seated in the balcony directly across from the President. He says he heard the shot, saw Lincoln slumped over, and watched John Wilkes Booth jump on to the stage before fleeing. On February 9, 1956, two months before his death, Seymour recounted the story on the CBS TV show I’ve Got a Secret.
